San Jose, CA - KeyPoint Credit Union is joining forces with HomeFirst, a leading nonprofit dedicated to ending homelessness in the Bay Area, for a day of service on October 14, 2024, to support the region's unhoused community. KeyPoint staff members will participate in a Community Giving Back Day, volunteering their time at six of HomeFirst's housing sites.

KeyPoint is also presenting HomeFirst with a $25,000 donation on October 14, 2024, to support the nonprofit’s mission of ending homelessness through the provision of essential services.

“KeyPoint proudly invests in the communities we serve,” said LeeAnne Giblin, KeyPoint’s Chief Administrative Officer. “Supporting the unhoused community by volunteering at, and donating to HomeFirst, aligns with our core values of respecting everyone and helping people improve their lives.”

KeyPoint staff will compile hygiene kits, emergency clothing packs, and pet kits for the unhoused community. They will also lead skill-building workshops: financial literacy, cooking, and exercise. Additionally, a job readiness workshop will allow attendees to participate in mock interviews, set up a LinkedIn profile, have their headshots taken, and discuss the job search process.

The day will also feature community-building activities for those HomeFirst serves. They will have the chance to engage in pumpkin decorating contests and an ice-cream social, enjoy a donated meal, partake in a giveaway with prizes, and experience a pet-and-person portrait session.

“Community partnerships are crucial to addressing the homelessness crisis,” said Annette Pizzo, HomeFirst’s Director of Community Engagement. “We are grateful for our strong partnership with KeyPoint Credit Union. Their Community Giving Back Day reflects the commitment that KeyPoint leadership and employees have made to serve the entire spectrum of our community.”

The collaboration between HomeFirst and KeyPoint exemplifies the power of local organizations coming together to address homelessness, one of the Bay Area’s pressing issues. With nearly 10,000 people experiencing homelessness in Santa Clara County, collaboration to address the homelessness crisis is more important than ever.
